Elysa D. Bergenfeld is a partner in the Firm’s Community Association Practice Group. Her practice is focused on the representation of condominiums and homeowners associations. She advises community association boards and property managers on matters including daily operations, drafting of contracts, the creation and enforcement of rules and regulations, alternate dispute resolution (“ADR”), developer transition, fair housing compliance and litigation arising from construction defects, contractor service agreements, delinquent assessments and common charge recovery, governance, and the fiduciary duties of board members. Ms. Bergenfeld has successfully represented condominiums and homeowners associations in various litigations.
Ms. Bergenfeld has extensive experience in dealing with issues pertaining to the New Jersey Non Profit Corporation Act, the New Jersey Condominium Act, the New Jersey Planned Real Estate Development Full Disclosure Act.
Immediately prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Bergenfeld was Counsel at Herrick, Feinstein LLP in its Community Association Department. She received her B.A., from the University of Delaware in 1997, and her J.D. from Widener University School of Law in 2000.
She currently serves on the Fox Chase Cancer Center Board of Associates and previously served on the St. Francis Hospital Community Fund Raising Board, from 2005 through 2014, as Vice President of Membership, where she was involved with the planning and facilitating of fundraisers. In addition, Ms. Bergenfeld served on the Children’s Home Society’s Auxiliary Board from 2002 through 2011, where she assisted with the planning and facilitating of fundraisers for the purpose of raising money for foster children in the community. Ms. Bergenfeld also is a member of the New Jersey Committee on Character, on which she evaluates the fitness to practice law of each candidate for admission to the Bar of the State of New Jersey.
